Da Bears, Pregnant Ladies, and Sub-Zero Temps

Tonight we are hosting a festive meal to celebrate the arrival of some of our Californian friends - Tom, his wife Jessie, and Jessie's sister Rachel. This year for our Annual Bears Bash, we decided to make it a December game, and Tom and Jessie wanted to stop in Indy first so she could check out his old stomping grounds. (Yeah, I am not sure what we were thinking about this December game thing. It is supposed to be 12 degrees on Monday night).

So, on Sunday we will all head up to the Essex, our favorite Chicago hotel, and settle in with the bartender Irene. The O'Maley family (Chris, Ami, Tim, and Susie) also have tickets to the same game, so we get to hang with them too! And, oddly enough three of us are pregnant, and due in April. One baby is a girl, one baby is a boy, and one baby is an O'Maley (Haha, just kidding, they don't know the sex yet).

There were emails flying around left and right these last few weeks discussing everything from meals, to airport pickups, to Bears Victory. As of late, we have been checking the forecast and getting increasingly scared as the day draws near. In response to everyone's trepidation. Jake sent out the following email:

I did some research, hopefully this helps people feel better.

Being pregnant increases your overall temperature by 31%. It is said of this phenomenon that it is like wearing a blanket made out of human babies. (Drlich 2006) Whiskey increases your body temperature by 28%. (Drlich 1999) Also, it makes you run faster, jump higher (like Jordans), appear more attractive to women (see the Mullally file, 1998), smarter, and hairier.

So the real temperature for most of the group will be around 47 - 52 degrees.

If I don't get back on the computer between now and Christmas, I hope everyone has a beautiful Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
