Wow, this may be the latest post yet. But, it has been a busy time – Holidays, crazy work projects, and horrible sickness. Yes, that’s right, you had your annual sickness between Thanksgiving and Christmas. You do it with such gusto each time, we are all very proud. I was actually very worried about you, because you had a fever of 105 degrees! That is very hot. Your skin was on fire. So, for two nights me and you slept together. You used my pregnant belly as a pillow and woke up every hour and asked for juice, but I had to give you flat sprite because you puked in bed just hours earlier, and I was deathly afraid of it happening again (note: when your child pukes when you are pregnant it is a whole different ball game – I did a very good job holding back my own puke.)

But, you we made it through. As you have gotten older we have noticed that “Sick Abe” is very similar to “Sick Jake.” This means that you are a diva when you are sick. You want what you want when you want it. Period. And, don’t even think about touching you! “No kisses on my cheek!” you said emphatically to Daddy. “Mama hold you,” you say to me when we go up the stairs, down the stairs, across the room, etc. Now that you are better, we are trying to undo all of the bad habits we have started like watching “Shrek the Halls” 23 times a day, and eating waffles with syrup right before bedtime. Hopefully we didn’t do any permanent damage.
One day we were up on our bedroom and I saw you trying to climb up in our bed. You looked at me and said, “I wanna knuckle.” I didn’t know what the heck that meant. So I kept asking you and you kept repeating. Each time the word got a little clearer – knuckle, nuggle, ohhhhh, SNUGGLE! It was probably the cutest thing you have ever said to me. I want to nuggle with you all of the time now. Which leads me to how you seem to leave of the “s” on words if the “s” precedes a consonant. (See, I have thought about this). You say no instead of snow, nack instead of snack, coolbuss instead of schoolbus, pongebob carepants -- well you get the idea. However, you can say Shrek perfectly, and other “S” words like Santa.

So, Santa. You love Santa. And Christmas trees. And snowmen. You love Christmas, but really, what kid doesn’t? I am so excited to experience Christmas with you this year. It is way better having a kid around to help enjoy the Holidays. I don’t recommend having a kid solely for that reason, but it is a perk. We put up our Christmas tree this weekend and we taught you how to turn the lights on and off with the light switch, and you love having that power. You feel that whenever we are downstairs the tree has to be ON and you quickly turn it on and run away so we don’t know who did it. Sneaky little one.

Lately I had been feeling overwhelmed and scared about how we were going to afford having two kids. Monthly daycare costs alone can feed a small country for a year. Then, your Daddy called me at work and said he was playing outside with you and Ozzie in the snow. I heard your little voice in the background, “I wanna talk to Mama.” When you got on the phone you said, “Hi Mama. I playin in the no.” Hearing your voice made my day. It made everything all worth it. And when I say everything, I mean, every pimple I ever got in high school, every time a boy made me cry, every time I flunked a test, every time someone made fun of me, every single stretch mark on my tummy. EVERY. THING. You make everything alright.
I love you.
Mama
P.S. We find out tomorrow if you will be getting a brother or a sister. I am not even sure if you know what the means, but I am sure if we asked you, you would like to have a Shrek.
