My Summer Vacation-2006

As I was sitting in my office space on a Friday afternoon, listening to the rumble of thunder and splashing of raindrops, I began to think where I could be at this very second.

Well, I suppose I could be any place, really, but where I would really like to be (if I wasn’t pregnant, of course) is on the way to the Outerbanks with my parents, Robby, and Natalie. So far, I have been very good at distancing myself from the vacation, all the while knowing that if I let myself become emotionally attached I will just end up a blubbering mess while thinking of my family and friends gathered on the beach under umbrellas, enjoying the sand and surf – as well as a cynical mean girl, cackling to myself while watching the “Scattered T-Storm Saga” unfold on Weatherchannel.com. I am already prepared for the colorful photos, speckled with tanned limbs and white teeth and hearing all of the stories, including the simple statement of, “It was the best vacation ever” from Steve Burkett. How could it be the “best vacation ever” if I was not there? I just don’t understand how it is humanly possible!?!?!?

I know better than to think that people really miss me on vacation, and it is okay. I know that every sentence doesn’t begin with, “Gee, I really wish Brianne was here.”

So, this year (only the second time in my life that I have ever missed a vacation) I have come up with a new coping strategy. Sure, it helps that the blistering heat forces me to spend most days holed up in an air conditioned area, for if I do not my fingers turn into sausages and my upper thighs stick together. Sure, I have to pee every 10 minutes. Sure, I look like a huge freaking whale, and prefer not to show any type of skin that is not necessary. Aside from all of that, I have decided to make a project. It is entitled:

“Jake and Bri’s Summer Vacation”

This project was inspired mostly in attempt to have some fun and interesting photos to share in anticipation of everyone else’s OBX photos.

While we may not be visiting an ocean or lounging in the sand, we will have some fun places to go and people to see. Why, I will be spending a whole 40 plus hours of my “vacation” at work. If that doesn’t scream FUN, I just don’t know what does.

So, please sit tight and wait for the photo montage to begin. (I haven’t exactly taken any photos yet, but oh, I’ve got big plans baby!)

Bermes, are you kidding me? Eat something! What do you weight like 100lbs.

My thigh is bigger than your whole body.

I can tell you that there were many many sentences that began with, "I wish Bri and Jake were here..." We really missed you guys! I can't wait to see you in a month and see your vacation photos!

It was a great vacation but I commented several times "The only thing better would be if Jake and Bri were here". Only 51 more weeks.
