Well, I was wrong. Having and taking care of a baby isn’t the hardest thing I have ever done. Having and taking care of a SICK baby is WAY harder.
Poor Baby Abe – so many boogies. His little nose is so congested and he sneezes and coughs all day long. It hurts my heart to see him this way. I do my best to suck out his snot with the bulby-sucky-thingy and of course he HATES that with a passion. It doesn’t really seem to be helping. Grandma Jillsy and Jake are not very helpful either -- they will not use the bulby-sucky-thingy because they are afraid to make him cry. So, Mama has to be the bad guy, coming at the baby with a red pointy thing and sticking it up his nose. I am surprised he doesn’t hate me … I keep comparing this action to that of when my mom used to stick the thermometer up my ass when I was little. I totally remember it, and I think it may have scarred me for life. I vowed to never do such a thing to my child. Now they have digital thermometers that you can put under their tiny armpits. Maybe in the future they will have electronic boogie suckers, but I seriously doubt it.
So, we are waiting out this cold, and praying that it will go away soon.
This weekend we hope to get some Christmas shopping finished (oh, and started) and plan for the “Mullally Family Christmas 2006” that we are hosting. I am very excited to use my Christmas dishes and to sit around the Christmas tree, hold hands, and sing carols. Maybe I will make puffy painted sweatshirts for everyone and force them to wear it. It will be the best Christmas EVER!
