Hammy Sammy

After a couple days of not feeling so good, my stomach was starting to get good and ready to eat again. I started thinking of things that sounded good to me, and then it hit me. At midnight my mouth started watering as I thought about the best sandwich on earth --- Grandma Mac's Ham Sandwich. By all means, this thing isn't gourmet and it is just a ham sandwich, but there was just something about this sandwich that made it taste so good, and I absolutely had to have it.

So, this morning I went off to Target to get the supplies. It was my first time grocery shopping in over three weeks. I am surprised my skin didn't melt off from the fresh air. Here is the recipe, and you must follow as close to this as possible to achieve the same taste (I understand that this stuff isn't from Youngstown and unless you go to Youngstown and sit in my grandma's kitchen to eat it, you will not have the same effect, but I got one that was close enough).

Grandma Mac's Ham Sandwich

-brown sugar ham from the deli
This is important. It must be from the deli, it must be brown sugar or honey ham and it must be chip chopped. The people from Target didn't know what chip chopped ham was, so I settled for "shaved." It worked

-thinly sliced swiss cheese
-mayo
Not Miracle Whip, people. And, it can be low fat mayo.

-lettuce
This must be iceberg.

-Rye Bread
This was perhaps the trickiest part of the recipe, because you cannot find rye bread here like you can in Youngstown. If you can, get fresh rye bread, but it must be thinly sliced and soft and have seeds in it.

Put mayo on both slices of bread. Place lettuce on one slice, then cheese, then ham. Enjoy with some Lays chips if you have them around, and a bottle of Coke.

I realize that this may not be exactly how she did it, but it tasted like I remember. I ate two of them. In a row. I don't think I breathed at all in between each sandwich.

How did your interaction with humans go? Hope it went well. Glad to hear you can eat and have an appetite! As for TV shows, I enjoy Ellen and Price Is Right.

Maybe you should join NetFlix or something and catch up on movies you want to see?

It is good to know you are feeling better! :)

That makes me smile that your first meal after all your sickness was something Grandma Mac used to make you. She's trying to make you feel better!
