May the Force Be With You

I must say that I have had the pleasure to witness one of the greatest spectacles on earth, right outside my office window ... two times, nonetheless. This spectacle is Celebration III, or the "Star Wars Convention" for those of you non-Jedis. It never ceases to amaze me. People from all over the world come to Indianapolis for the common purpose of Star Wars. As I write this, they are all lined up outside of the RCA Dome, wrapped around streets, I suppose waiting for it to officially start. There have been a lot of Jedi spottings, some Storm Troopers and some of those guys in the orange suits and big helmets. I am very disappointed that there have not been any Queen Amidala sightings, or Princess Leias. The women need to represent. One of my coworkers and I were critiquing the Jedis' outfits and thought that to really pull it off, you must have the proper footwear, regular tennis shoes will not cut it. You must have the Jedi boots to pull it off. I also give props to those who have the Jedi "hair do" and an honorable mention to the George Lucas lookalike hair. I wonder if these people actually believe that they are Jedis. We were thinking of dressing Ozzie like an Ewok and parading him around. I am sure he would be angry and growl at all of the Jedis ... very un-Ewok like.

Anyways, I am going to go for a run today at lunch to try to get a closer look at some of these people. God bless them ... this is probably the highlight of their life.
