Vacation is upon us. And, never have I ever been so ready for a vacation. I tried to start my vacation earlier tonight, but that was rattled a bit by the boys fighting and their willingness to watch "The Little Rascals" (the 1994 version), along with the happiness they had while watching it. Hadn't we raised them right (or wrong?) by giving them the Goonies?!
But, rule number one of vacation is "No Fighting" followed quickly by rule number two, "No going down to the beach by yourself." Because if you do, you will surely die. I tried to nail that one into their heads. I think Abe really got it, but I didn't see the look of fear in Sam's face when I told him he will die when he goes down to the beach by himself. We will work on that.
Needless to say, I am very much looking forward to this vacation. This summer has seemed very long. And while that sounds good to most people, it can be very arduous to those with unruly children who seem to think later bedtimes and no shirts rules make them immune to the rules of life.
But, vacation means the Gardettos and Cheezits are aplenty and that happiness is all abounds, and I fully intend to play by those rules. I have my piles of clothes laid out, and my bottles of sunscreen in various SPFs, with jugs of trail mix and magazines all around. All good plans are in place. I just can't wait for all of those plans to go awry. Here's to vacations, especially with the ones you love, and to no rules (only the important ones that keep you from dying. I'm looking at you Sam.)
