Dear Abe,
As usual, I am very late. I couldn't possibly fit in everything that has happened this month -- vacation, receiving your new Thomas the Train table, visits at both grandparents -- the list is endless. So, I would like to tell you about the most perfect day we spent together recently. So far, I think it has been my favorite day with you yet.
The day started at 7:30 a.m. (sleeping in!). Right away you were ready to go and play with your Thomas the Train table. Especially your favorite trains James and Gordon. How you know which trains are which, blows my mind. However, I am getting better. They all have these weird names - Skarloey?- and you say them all. THOMAS! DUNCAN! DUCK! ROSIE! TOBEY! BERTIE! Except when you say them, it is much cuter. I have even caught you talking to them. Lining them all up on the couch. I wonder what you are saying to them?
You ate a breakfast of peanut butter toast and peaches (which I think you ate in one gulp). We chat all morning long. I love when you answer my questions like, "All right" or "OKAY!" And, you also say, "Henry FAST!" when he goes down a hill, or "Sorry" when they fall down. (You have very good choo choo manners.)
We played outside and ate popsicles together on the hammock. I have found that if we ever want to keep you still for 45 minutes, all we have to do is give you a popsicle. You ate mine too, because it was gross (who has ever heard of a white popsicle?) "Abe have two popsicles," you say. I guess most of it melted on my shorts. And, down your arm. And, down your shirt.
We walked down the street and went through a sprinkler. "Mama jump in puddles," you told me. So, I jumped in the puddle. Then, we went next door and jumped in Jody's pool. You asked Jody for another popsicle, and you ate it. Your diaper expanded to ungodly proportions, so we took it off. Then you went swimming naked. I told you that you cannot do this when you are 15.
When it was time for nap, you didn't want to go to sleep (something that has been happening a lot lately.) So, I laid down with you in our bed. Of course you had two trains with you. (Duh.)
I made you pancakes for dinner, because you asked. I couldn't ruin this perfect day! I think you could eat pancakes all day long.
When it was time for bed I read your Thomas book (which is really actually freaky) and you pointed out the conductor's mustache (making your father proud). I tucked you in bed. You ask for James. I give you James. You ask for Thomas. You get Thomas. You ask for milk. I hand over the milk.
Finally I think you are getting sleepy. You take a drink of milk, and I stare at your angelic face for a moment, and smile. I think about how much fun we had together, and how much of a sweet boy you are.
Then, you smile your big smile, and a mouthful of milk runs out of the sides of your mouth.
A classic Abe move.
Love,
Mama

I can not believe that we have had him for two years. He is growing so fast. I love the picture. I will definitely look at it several times a day.
Does he have the "sour corner" in his mouth? That's so cute!
