Fruit and Appliances

Today is Jake and I's fourth anniversary. The traditional gift is fruit, and the modern gift is appliances. Both sound fabulous to me. "Happy Anniversary, honey, here is a delicious apple." Or, "I thought you would love this blender to celebrate four years of wedded bliss." Luckily, Jake and I don't really celebrate with gifts (minus the filing cabinet a few years back).

This year, I think we are happy to just have our health and a roof over our heads. And, of course, the best gift of all is Bubba the Baby. Last year was very hard for us. I was just remembering how it was this week last year that I found out USRowing was moving. Crazy how time flies. I am hoping that the fifth year of our marriage will be without unemployment and morning sickness. Lightning doesn't strike twice, or whatever they say.

Tonight we are going to go out to dinner, while Grandma Jillsy the Nanny watches the baby. I am very excited to eat a meal slower than five minutes and not in front of our TV. I think I will actually be able to taste the food tonight -- at least that is the goal. I told Jake that I don't care where we go as long as it is not Chilis or Applebees.

So, Happy Anniversary Jakey! May we make it to the copper and desk sets year!

"Chili's is the new golf course, it's where business happens."
