Enough about my woes, how about sharing all about my favorite Caped Crusaders, aka Abe and Sam. It's embarrassing to even think of all that has happened since the last time I have updated you. But, both boys seem to be growing up way to quickly -- literally and figuratively. I swear, every time I look at Sam his clothes seem to be a size too small. And, Abe's time in Kindergarten has started to mature him, and seem like he is a 45 year old man at times.
Abe has just started recently taking the role of "Older Brother" very seriously, and has tried more than a few times to help me out with Sam. More specifically when Sam is having a complete mental breakdown, Abe helps to talk him "off the ledge" and reason with him. Maybe he is just tired of the always-present "I don't wanna go to school" morning meltdowns and decided that I am not doing a good enough job. By all means, take the lead dude.
Also the other the day, the boys were watching TV while I was putting away laundry. I heard Abe call for me, and when I got in the family room he was standing in front of the paused TV, remote in hand and said, "Mama, this show just said it is not suitable for kids under 12. So, I don't think we should watch it." I have to say, I was so impressed with his responsible stance on unsuitable television shows. I pray that his rule-following ability follows him into his middle school and high school days, and then alleviates just as he becomes mature enough to break rules so that he isn't a rule-following, boring, rigid structured man. See, how parenting is so difficult? (The show Goosebumps on the Cartoon Network, for all those people thinking I let my kids watch Jersey Shore or something.)

I think, though, that he is maintaining his individuality at school and still likes to be different than the others. He needs to get glasses (they STILL have not come in), and was surprisingly SO EXCITED by this. He told me that there was only ONE other kid in his class with glasses. I think he is sort of used to standing out because he is the tallest kid, and has lost the most teeth (eight freaking teeth.) He will most likely be shaving next year, so I am glad he is getting used to being different.
Sammy Beans is still the vibrant, energetic, crazy kid he has always been. He talks. A lot. Like, he does not stop talking ever. Or asking questions. About everything. And, he does of all his talking with the cutest lisp you have ever heard.
"Mama, is sthexy a bad word?"
"Mama, why are we humansth?"
"Mama, isth a dog a human?"
"I do not want to make my own peeeztha!!"
"Mama, can I just have a splash more milk? Justh a little, tiny bit?"
"I want glasssthes too!!!"

The boys have recently become obsessed with Peter Pan. I secretly love it. I actually didn't remember much about Peter Pan, except from the movie Hook, so I have been watching the movies and learning about him along with them. I love that they are getting into something that is a classic and not just Batman and Spider-Man and Ninjago (not that there is anything wrong with those things).
And, to be honest, I really like the message of Peter Pan. To never grow up, to have adventures. It seems like the epitome of childhood to me. It also reminds me how cool kids are. Especially mine.
"The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever to be able to do it." - Peter Pan
