Year in Review

Welcome to the First Annual (and possibly Last Annual) Bri’s Year in Review. I am very good at planning out my future, but not very good at reflecting on the past. I think a nice reflection is healthy and keeps things in perspective. Let’s take a walk down memory lane, shall we?

January 2006
Celebrated New Years soberly at home with large group of drunken people. Puked up to four times a day. Got to see little Abe for the first time in a sonagram. Had official “last day” at USRowing on January 27. Searched for jobs frantically. Started renting seasons of Dawson’s Creek and watching them. Craved coleslaw.

February 2006
Started eating food again (mostly Chick-fil-a and ham sandwiches. Oh, and coleslaw.) Visited Jasper with Ozzie in tow. Developed deep bond with Ozzie. Stressed out about not having a job. Puked a lot. Jake grew out his hair. Celebrated Valentine’s Day by watching Jeopardy in a full upright position.

March 2006
Jake coached middle school swimming. Got membership to the library. Officially watched every episode of every maternity show on Discovery Health Network. Mastered Karaoke Revolution and rocked it hardcore. Joined a temp agency and worked in a carpet and rug store. Became devastated at job options and considered working at Wendy’s. Attended cousin Nadine’s wedding in Youngstown and ate 5 meatballs while watching everyone else get drunk. Witnessed Jake's crazy Youngstown experience.

April 2006
Celebrated Jake’s spring break via Mega Jugs of Diet Coke at KFC (and coleslaw) and a slew of visitors. Found out that we were having a boy. Craved Whoppers. Had second interview for Walker (current job). Started walking -- with Ericka, and in general.

May 2006
Went to the zoo with Brooke, Ben and Baby Jaxon and ate hamburgers. Felt baby move a lot. Gained 7 pounds in one month. Developed large knot in back and had to get a massage. Knot did not disappear. Got a job.

June 2006
Went to Blues Fest in Chicago and ate enough food for two people. Turned 27. Learned that baby was hairy. Started new job, and revealed the big secret that I was pregnant. Watched the World Cup. Pinched myself a lot, because of disbelief I had a job.

July 2006
Celebrated 4th of July. Painted the nursery. Went to Lamaze. Missed vacation. Got freakishly large and ate mass quantanties of food. Had first baby shower.

August 2006
Had second baby shower. Had first contractions. Prayed for the baby to come out. Suffered through record high temperatures. Got cable. Stopped exercising. Baby Abe was born.

September 2006
A big, joyful blur of babyness.

October 2006
Went back to work. Went to Samantha and Pat’s wedding. Went out to dinner for the first time since Abe was born. Celebrated “Baby’s First Halloween.” More Baby Blurs.

November 2006
Had Thanksgiving. Went out to the bars for the first time and saw Moe. Work and Baby Blurs.

December 2006
Christmas Blur. Baby Sick Blur.

I guess looking through the year, it wasn’t as bad as I thought. It is amazing how little was accomplished, and how much. I think I need to work on things not being so blurry with the baby. It is just that time goes by at a Mach 5 speed. It is weird to not be bored anymore and have no time to think. So, I have made New Year’s Resolutions. I will keep them to myself as to not bore you, but some of my goals include finishing the Mini Marathon and reading more books and less US Weeklys (I love you US Weekly). Happy New Year to all of you, and may you all have a great 2007!
