Hi Everyone,
Remember me? The owner of this blog. The blog that used to not solely focus on one human being named Abe. Yes, thaaaaaaaaaaat Bri from "Mental Notes" the totally generic name that I thought sounded only slightly better than “Bri’s Blog.” I haven’t gone anywhere, just temporarily insane from lack of sleep, lack of personal time, and a total focus on nothing else besides my child. Oh wait. I think that’s called motherhood. Crap.
Anyways, I really have been thinking of other things besides Abe, and because I love the five people that read this, I thought I would talk about it today. I know it is quite ambitious of me to put all of these thoughts in one blog, instead of stretching it out over a period of multiple blogs. But I like living on the edge.
Random Non-Abe Thought #1: American Idol.
I am getting hooked on American Idol. And, I was even thinking how I could write an entire blog about how Simon Cowell is a breath of fresh air in the current state of Hollywood, and frankly, society in general. You know the whole, “everyone wins” mentality coupled with people being famous for no reason (a la Paris Hilton and Friends). So, back to Simon … I think he is great, and I don’t understand why everyone thinks he is so mean! He is just telling it like it is. Most of the contestants SUCK. Do people really think he is harsh? I mean, when you think about it, it is a competition. There is no way that the flat-iron-haired-Sanjaya kid should even be on TV! SERIOUSLY! Plus, I find Simon strangely attractive.
Random Non-Abe Thought #2: "The way I feeeeeeeeeeel ... :
I've been watching the Real Housewives of Orange County. Yes, that's right. I watch that crap. It is a guilty pleasure. These women are horrible, vapid people, yet I can’t stop watching them. I can’t get the song, “The way I feel… “ out of my head. Am I alone in this?
Random Non-Abe Thought #2: Trippy scientists
Besides watching TV I have been doing some other stuff too, in what I like to call “Bri time” – the drive home from work. Sometimes I chat with people on the phone, and lately I have been listening to the “Love” soundtrack. You know, the Cirque du Soleil show in Vegas with Beatles songs. I mostly wanted to listen to it because we are going to the show when we go to Vegas in June, and I am WAY excited. The Beatles are very interesting fellas … they have songs about Walruses, glass onions, a gal named Eleanor Rigby, and being turned on “because the world is round.” That is funny.
It also made me realize that those people who named “Lucy,” the first discovered Australopithicus afarensis, (yes, I looked that one up), were totally doing drugs when they came up with that name. After doing some quick research (google), this is what one Web site says:
Later in the night of November 24th, there was much celebration and excitement over the discovery of what looked like a fairly complete hominid skeleton. There was drinking, dancing, and singing; the Beatles’ song “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds” was playing over and over. At some point during that night no one remembers when or by whom the skeleton was given the name “Lucy.” The name has stuck.
I think that is the G-rated story. This is what I think really happened:
“After a hard days dig in Ethopia, there was much celebration and excitement over the discovery of what looked to be a bunch of bones. The team of scientists enjoyed some psychedelic mushrooms and Beatles tunes. There was naked dancing, strong hallucinations, and incoherent rambling; the Beatles song “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds” was playing over and over because someone passed out on the record player. The scientists were so blitzed they thought God named the skeleton Lucy. They mandated that this story be printed in every Science text book so children will only remember this story from all that they ever learned in Biology.”
Yeah, that was some deep stuff. How do you like new and improved sleep deprived Bri? Pretty crazay.
Can we just agree to allow me a one-year grace period of boring blogs? I feel that at that time I will have some good nights of sleep under my belt, and perhaps regained some brain space to think about other things besides my baby. (
Just wanted to check in with you all. Sorry for being so lame.
Hearts and Kisses,
Bri

i like your abe-log. it is good. a common misnomer is that not all us scientists trip out and listen to beatles. we're simply not that cool.
I think Simon is attractive too and I have totally seen the Real Housewives of the OC or whatever it is. I would like to see more, but I don't know when it comes on. I caught one when they were having a bbq that was full of drama. It is just like Laguna Beach but with 50-year olds.
P.S. I enjoy all your blogs and I am jealous that you are going to the LOVE show! That will be so fun.
